After the pleasant breakfast we will have at our hotel, we set off towards the fairy-tale Lake Cildir via the Arpachay road route to discover one of the most fascinating points of Eastern Anatolia. In this natural wonder lake, which is located hundreds of meters above sea level and has a unique view, we get the chance to walk on the surface, which is completely covered with ice in winter, and for our guests who wish, to take a trip with traditional horse-drawn sleighs. After the pleasant break we will take in the postcard-like views of Lake Cildir, we turn our route back to Kars city center. We start to visit historical Kars, which stands out with its grid-planned streets left over from the Russian occupation period and its unique Baltic architectural style, like an open-air museum. Our first stop is the magnificent Fethiye Mosque, which was built as a church from cut stones during the Russian occupation and opened for worship with the liberation of Kars. Then we move on to the historical Church of the Apostles, where we can examine the most elegant workmanship of Armenian and Georgian architectural styles. Our discovery in this ancient city, known as the "Land of Bards", also turns into a rich gastronomic experience that will make us gourmets. During our trip, we have the opportunity to try unique flavors such as piti, hangel, kete, goose meat, and yellow fish, which are indispensable for local cuisine, as well as geographically indicated delicacies such as famous Kars honey, old cheddar, and Kars gruyere. Continuing our walk, we see the historical Stone Bridge, which has survived from the Roman period and is still actively used, the Historical Bath right next to it, and we photograph the magnificent Kars Castle, now called the central castle or inner castle, from below. After visiting the historical house where one of our famous poets, Namik Kemal, lived for a period, we have the opportunity to get to know the Bard tradition, which is Kars' most important intangible cultural heritage, closely. The local people call the largest lake in our country 'the sea'. Afterwards, we are guests of the traditional Carpet and Kilim Workshop to get to know another valuable handicraft of Van that is on the verge of disappearing. We discover the mysterious motifs and stories of the carpets belonging to the Van and Hakkari region, which are woven stitch by stitch by the women of the region and colored with root dyes, with a special presentation here.
