CAPE TOWN Cape Town, one of the three capitals of the Republic of South Africa, is the capital where the legislative assembly is located. Also known as Kaapstad or IKapa, Cape Town is situated at the foothills of Table Mountain. Cape Town is the city located at the furthest tip of the African continent from Europe. Cape Town, the most developed city of South Africa, ranks second in population after Johannesburg. In this city, African, British, and Dutch cultures are blended together. Climate: Winters are mild and summers are hot in the city. During the summer months of December - January - February, the temperature is around 15-27 degrees. During the winter months of June - July - August, the temperature varies between 7 and 20 degrees. Rainfall is seen at a moderate level throughout the year. Places to Visit: Table Mountain: After exploring the neighborhoods and streets of Cape Town, take a look at the places you visited from above. Beautiful beaches, ships and yachts gliding in the bay, historical buildings, the glamorous houses of the wealthy, skyscrapers, and the slum areas that create a contrast with this grandeur. All of these are beneath your feet when you climb Table Mountain. Cape of Good Hope: It is the southern tip of the Cape Peninsula in South Africa. The Cape of Good Hope, a rocky cape extending into the sea, is approximately 245 meters above sea level. Although the Cape of Good Hope is known as the southernmost point of Africa, the actual southern tip of the continent is Cape Agulhas, 160 km southeast of the Cape of Good Hope. When Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias discovered this place in 1488, he named it the Cape of Storms because it was very windy. According to historians, when Dias informed the King that he had discovered the cape, the King thought this discovery would soon enable the opening of a water route to the east, and therefore changed the name of the cape to the Cape of Good Hope. According to some sources, it was later changed to the Cape of Good Hope with the thought that if the name remained the Cape of Storms, it might demoralize and frighten sailors. Shopping Those who cannot return from the countries they visit without buying souvenirs and small mementos; will return very happy thanks to various handmade masks, wood carvings, clothes, precious stones, jewelry, etc. Fashion enthusiasts can find what they are looking for in shopping centers and stores that follow the latest trends. What to Eat / What to Drink: Eating in Cape Town is a very pleasant experience, as you will definitely find something that suits your taste. Fresh and exotic vegetables and fruits produced in the region, seafood coming from the ocean to the tables with various sauces and cooking methods, and Cape Town wines, the gift of the vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see in the Winelands; are among the local flavor options the city offers you. JOHANNESBURG Johannesburg is one of the most crowded and fastest-growing cities in South Africa. After Cairo, it is one of the most global cities in Africa. Johannesburg is a city with high potential for gold and silver trade. The first settlement began in the 1200s, but gold was discovered in the 1880s. The Witwatersrand mountain range is particularly rich in these minerals. Johannesburg International Airport provides the busiest and highest capacity airline service in Africa for domestic and international transport. The city population is around 3 million 288 thousand. While it has a surface area of 1644 square kilometers, which is quite high compared to other cities, the population density is only 1962 per square kilometer. The city is listed among the 40 largest metropolitan cities in the world.
