Kalemegdan is a large fortress and park complex located in the historical center of Belgrade and is one of the most important symbols of the city. Its name means "fortress square". Kalemegdan is a photo point that offers exquisite views at the point where the Sava and Danube rivers meet. In Sremski Karlovci, our first visit will be to the site where the Treaty of Karlowitz was signed on January 26, 1699, marking the end of the Ottoman Empire's expansion in Europe and its first major territorial losses in the West. Following our visit here, in the center of this charming town, we will see the St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral built in the 18th century, Karlovacka Gimnazija, the oldest high school in Serbia dating back to 1791, the Patrijaršijski Dvor (Patriarchate Court), the former residence of the patriarch and one of the town's most striking structures, and the Four Lions Fountain, the symbol of the town. During the free time provided here, you can spend time in the town's cafes or do some shopping. From local markets and shops in Sremski Karlovci, you can purchase homemade jams, honey, liqueurs, and the famous Bermet wines associated with the town. Flavorful with various herbs and spices, this wine is one of the region's most precious beverages. Local winemakers offer visitors the chance to taste this special wine. At the end of our tour here, we continue towards Novi Sad. Disembarking our vehicle at Petrovaradin Fortress, a short walk will lead us to a vantage point offering panoramic views of Novi Sad. Following breakfast in the morning and checking out of our rooms, we set off towards Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sarajevo is a city that has hosted many different civilizations throughout history and a region where different ethnic groups have lived together in peace for centuries. Even today, standing at one point and looking around, it is possible to see a mosque, a synagogue, and a church all at the same time. This feature makes the city a 'meeting point of cultures.' Upon our arrival in the city, we will disembark our vehicle in Bašçaršija, famous for its narrow streets dating back to the Ottoman period, traditional shops, and cafes, to begin our walking tour. Our tour in Bašçaršija will take us to Sebilj Square, Coppersmith Street, Ferhadija Street where you will experience both Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian atmospheres together, the Latin Bridge where the event triggering World War I took place, and the Sacred Heart Cathedral, ending at the Eternal Flame Monument built in memory of those who gave their lives for Yugoslavia's independence in World War II. At the end of the free time given by our guide, transfer to our hotel and check-in to our rooms. Overnight at our hotel.
Following breakfast in the morning, your day is at leisure. Guests who wish may join the optional Mostar-Počitelj-Blagaj Tour with Lunch organized by our guide. On our tour, we first set off to visit the village of Počitelj. Accompanied by magnificent views of the Neretva River along the way, we arrive in Počitelj. Positioned as a border outpost during the Ottoman Empire, the village remains Bosnia and Herzegovina's last settlement point towards the Croatian border. During the free time provided here, you can enjoy a drink at the village cafe or take a walk into the village. The view of the Neretva from the village castle is unique. Following our visit here, we depart for the town of Blagaj and our restaurant. After having lunch, we visit the Blagaj Dervish Tekke, located at the source of the natural wonder Buna River. After a photo break at the tekke while listening to its history, we set off for Mostar. Upon arrival in Mostar, we disembark our vehicle and walk towards the Old Bridge Area of Mostar, famous for its narrow stone streets, traditional Bosnian houses, and various shops. The most important monument we will see here will be the Mostar Bridge. Built in the mid-16th century during the Ottoman Empire by Mimar Hayreddin, a student of Mimar Sinan, the Mostar Bridge is one of the typical examples of Ottoman architecture. Built using ashlar stone, the bridge reflects the aesthetic and engineering achievements of the era. During the Bosnian War in 1993, the Mostar Bridge was destroyed by Croatian artillery. This event became a tragedy highlighting the bridge's symbolic value and cultural importance. However, with the support of the international community, the bridge was rebuilt in 2004 faithful to its original plans. Another important monument we will see on our Mostar tour is the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque. The mosque was built between 1617 and 1618 by Koči Bey, the grandson of Ottoman Vizier and Governor of Bosnia Köprülü Mehmed Pasha. The mosque takes its name from its founder. It is a single-domed structure representing an impressive example of typical Ottoman architecture. Built using ashlar stone, the mosque features elegant decorations and details unique to Ottoman architecture. Damaged during the Bosnian War, the mosque was restored through international support and efforts. After a short free time in Mostar, we set off for the capital, Sarajevo. Upon arrival, transfer to our hotel. Guests who wish may join our optional Bosnian Night at an Authentic Restaurant program organized by our guide.? We depart by vehicle for the evening to be held at an authentic restaurant near Sarajevo.
